February Favourites 2014

And it’s time for some monthly favourites again! I’ve noticed that you really enjoy these kinds of posts and I definitely have fun writing them as well. Let’s indulge in some beauty gems then!

As you will notice, this month consisted of some hair care craziness. My hair is pretty long and I really hate long hair to be honest. Don’t get me wrong, I love the way it looks and the fact that you can play with different hair styles. However, I can’t stand it! It gets very tangled with scarfs in the winter, and I always find that it gets in my way even when I try to put my coat on, and in the summer, I never wear it down because I get really hot! Also, I’m a very lazy person with hair styling so I generally end up wearing it in a messy bun. I’m trying to keep it moisturized and in a good condition though because I’m getting married next summer and I’ve imagined that I will wear it down in my wedding, so I need super long hair for the curls to look good! Huge intro there, but I wanted to give you a reason for the hair product madness! As I said, my hair gets tangled a lot and it’s really a chore to detangle it after shower. The Toni & Guy Smoothing Detangler has been a revelation for me. It’s pretty expensive for a drugstore hair product but I got with a 30% discount. It’s very watery in consistency and you just need a pump for your whole head. I apply it from ear down and then I can go in with my brush and brush it out effortlessly. It’s an amazing product. Also, the Avalon Organics Thickening Shampoo is what I’ve been using lately to wash my hair; not only me, my fiancé has been loving it lately as well. It’s an organic shampoo and it contains biotin that helps hair growth and strength. I have noticed less fall out but the downside with this one is that it doesn’t lather very well and you need quite some product for every use. Since I order it online and it takes like a month to arrive I was bumped by this. However, it’s a great shampoo that cleanses as well as protecting your hair. Among the vast amount of hair masks that I own, I’ve been picking up the Macadamia Deep Repair Mask most lately. This is an over hyped product and I understand why. It detangles your hair very well and leaves it silky smooth and shiny. You need to leave it on for about 10 minutes ,which might be a chore but on the days that you need to scrub and shave I think you definitely spend that much time in the bathroom. It’s a brilliant product and it smells very nice as well.

My favourite foundation for the month has been the Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 in 825. This one was on the shopping list that I gave my colleague when he visited his parents in New York during Christmas. This one contains SPF 20 and it claims to be both a primer and a concealer. This means that it gives you great coverage, that great that it covers my acne hyperpigmentation, and I always appreciate some SPF since it’s not shiny in photos. It blends really well, it’s very long lasting, it does set to a matte finish and you can see some shiny coming through after about 4 hours. Generally, I think that it’s one of the best drugstore foundations out there. For my eye makeup, I’ve been loving the Sephora Waterproof Jumbo Liners in Taupe and Copper (for a full review click here). They are very blendable and really long lasting with no creasing as well. On the days that I decided to wear no eyeshadow and just throw some mascara on, I used the Avon Eyelid Primer which does a very good job in camouflaging your veins and leaves a nice beige shadow on your lid. As a primer under eye shadows I haven’t found it to be that great but for what I need it, it’s awesome. Also, I’ve been experimenting with some gel eyeliner lately, although I’m a huge fan of the felt tip liners because I find it very easy to draw a straight line with them. However, with the excellent quality Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in black and the Catrice Angled Eyeliner Brush I have managed to do some wonderful eye looks. Thumbs up for me conquering the eyeliner world! On my New York shopping list I’ve also included the Sonia Kashuk Eyelash Curler which I fell in love with. It’s the perfect size and it manages to even curl those small lashes in the outer corner of my eye. I’ve never tried anything from the brand before but now I really want to! Pity that you can't find them in Greece.
For lips I’ve been going bold and wearing the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Colour Rush Balm in the Redder the Better. It’s a Revlon Kissable Balm Stain type of thing. It’s very moisturising, quite glossy, extremely pigmented and it manages to stain your lips quite well. It’s a lot cheaper as well and on offer right now on asos.com!
For my nails, a new colour that I got this month is the Erre Due Nail Polish in 224 Mocha which is a beautiful brown/mocha shade that I’ve been looking for for a long time. It applies really well and not streaky at all, you can get a good five days with no chipping and you need two thin coats for opacity.

These were my beauty favourites for the month. Let me know in the comments which were yours, you know I always love trying new stuff!

P.S. Don't forget to check out my Michael Todd giveaway for a chance to win a Kaolin Clay Face Mask!
