January & February Favourites 2013

Happy Spring everyone! It's high time for my monthly favourites. Since I hadn't shared my January favourites with you I'm doing a combo of those two months. I could name it 'winter favourites' to be honest, but let's narrow it down to that!

Face / Skincare
This month I’ve been introduced to the wonders of Almond oil which was suggested to me as a way to thicken and strengthen my eyelashes. I have noticed that it does a good job apparently but also that it moisturizes the eye area so well that I can use it instead of my eye cream. I’m always amazed when I find products that can do more than one job and are very affordable. I got mine from Boots for £1.59.
I’ve also been loving the Blanx Whitening toothpaste. I’ve also tried the one for stains but this one stood out for me.

I’ve featured this *Lierac Huille Sensorielle aux 3 Fleurs oil in a Sunday Beauty Tip before and if you’ve read that you’d know that I love it. I’ve used it on my hair, face and body and it moisturises each equally and doesn’t feel greasy at all. It might be pricey but a little goes a long way and, for me at least, the scent is quite strong so I don’t use it every day anyway.
Also, I’ve been dealing with some hormonal breakouts for the past few months, long story/another post, and face masks have helped me a lot. My top pick was the Apivita express beauty with green clay mask. They come in a pack of two sachets which give me 4 applications and are very convenient because you don’t have to devote yourself to a huge tube that may not suit your skin 3 months later. They are also very cheap; I picked mine from www.pharmacy295.gr which offers next day delivery, discounted prices and generally an awesome service.

Hair
I’ve recently bought a straightening iron and I’ve been styling my hair with that, so I had to use heat protection (never have in my entire life!). I chose the Aussie Take the Heat Leave-in spray because I found it on offer and I was amazed. It smells great, makes my hair feel very soft without interrupting the styling with making it heavy and I believe it does a good job protecting my hair from heat, because I don’t see many split ends!
Hair oils have been my addiction since summer. I have tried a few, not many, but enough to be able to have an opinion. In general, I believe it’s a brilliant idea. I think that having a product so moisturising on your hair that doesn’t make you head back to the shower to wash your hair is innovation, take it from someone who has a really oily scalp! So the *Marrakesh Oil Hair Styling Elixir has been a great discovery. It has the most sensual scent, moisturises the hair, doesn’t make it greasy and I’ve noticed that when I air dry my hair it kind of speeds up the drying process. It said so on the bottle but I wouldn’t believe it! It’s a bit pricey but trust me, this will last you ages!

Nails
This month I’ve stuck with the dark colours for nails and have been experimenting with some nail art as well. The Erre Due Diamond Base Coat has been protecting my nails from colouring and chipping. The Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in Blackberry is a beautiful deep purple colour that has made my nails shine even without my top coat like no other nail varnish. The formula is just amazing and they actually lasted me 7 days! WOW! The MD Professionel Selective nail polishes have been another interesting discovery. I have several colours but this deep khaki one (363) is what I got most use of in the last two months. Great brush in these and a very nice formula with minimal chipping. Plus it dries really fast.

Eye Make up
Since I got these three products I don’t think I’ve used anything else on my eyes. First, the Maybelline The Falsies mascara? Oh my god, I wouldn’t believe it! It’s a drugstore mascara that does the exact same job with my MUFE Smokey Lash, just even better! It holds the curl, it’s super black, the wand is really easy to use and it leaves my lashes very soft to the touch. Oh and it doesn’t smudge and lasts all day. I can’t ask for more from a mascara! The Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal pencil in Black was new territory I might say. Since I don’t tend to buy high end make up I’ve never owned such a soft pencil that I can run in my waterline with minimum effort and stay put. It is tear proof as well, just so you know! I’ve also been loving how convenient the Maybelline Colour Tatoo in Back to the Bronze is. It’s such a wearable shade in a little pot that I can apply with my fingers. Great for my drowsy mornings!

Lip Make up
As weird as that may sound this post is not sponsored by Rimmel, but I’ve been loving the Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick in 22 as well as their new Apocalips lip lacquer in Celestial . The lipstick is one of the most beautiful pinky reds that I’ve ever seen and the Apocalips? Well, an apocalypse indeed! It’s a highly pigmented lip gloss with a good staying power and I’ve been wearing them together; the lipstick as a stain because it’s really long wearing without drying the lips, and the lacquer on top, awesome! I’ve also been exfoliating my lips with the e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator,  which comes in a lipstick packaging. Brilliant idea I dare say; it doesn’t get messy, it exfoliates gently, it tastes like vanilla and it moisturises your lips really well. Well done e.l.f. on this one! After the exfoliation a girl needs to moisturise and the Vaseline Aloe Vera Lip Therapy has been ideal.

Random
For those of you who don’t know, I’m a huge peanutbutter lover. I believe it goes with everything, sweet or savory snacks. So, I found a recipe for a homemade one and apparently all you need is peanuts and honey! It’s so much better than the ones you buy at the supermarket and there are no artificials added. I don’t think that jar will last me long! ;)

Song
The song that I've been listening to back to back on replay all day long, literally, has been 'L'll Red Riding Hood' by Amanda Seyfried. Not only the song is awesome but that girl's voice? Divine!

TV Show
My favourite TV show for the past months has been 'The Carrie Diaries'. It's actually the prequel of Sex and the City and it follows Carrie Bradshow on her everyday life since high school to how she ended up being a writer and fulfilling her dreams. The girl that plays Carrie, Anna Sophia Robb, is soooo good, she's like the perfect match. She is gorgeous and as the episodes are progressing her acting starts to look more and more like Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City; even her gestures and face expressions kinda look alike. I think you'll enjoy watching it if you were fans of SATC!

So these are what I’ve been loving for the past 2 months. I hope I gave you some ideas and I would love to hear what your favourites have been so please comment below!
