May Favourites 2014

Let’s welcome SUMMER, shall we? Well loves, spring is over and summer is finally here, hopefully with awesome weather, fingers creossed. Am I the only one who is already dreaming of sandy beaches and colourful sunsets and drinking and dancing till morning? Let’s just say there are some of you out there who are already planning your next getaway weekend, just to make sure I don’t feel completely out of place here! So, let’s dig in last month’s favourites and the awesome giveaway, as it has become a tradition in my latest favourites posts!

For me, May has been a super busy and extremely stressful month. That’s why I have been loving the combination of the Apivita Body Tonic shower gel which is packed with natural ingredients and smells of bergamot and green tea and the Bath & Body Works Stress Relief Eucalyptus Tea body cream. The scent of these two is very similar and I was in the hunt of something that reminded me of the BBW cream since we can’t find it in Greece. Apivita’s shower gels are very moisturising and this particular aromatherapy line is very unique. I don’t think I can say enough things about the BBW body creams, they never seize to impress me and this super relaxing scent lingers with you until the next day!

Kiehl’s has finally arrived here in Thessaloniki and since my birthday was in May my wishlist had quite a lot of their products in it! My fiancé stuck to the list (Friends connotation here, got it?) and he got me their amazing eye cream with avocado. I’ve read so many good reviews about this product that I couldn’t wait to try it. It is wonderful indeed and I’ve been using it every night for the whole month, I don’t find it suitable for my morning routine because it is very oily and concealer doesn’t sit well on top of it. It turns into a weird oily consistency when you apply it on your under eye area but since I suffer from dry eyelids and eczema under my eyes this has completely changed the skin on that sensitive area.

The L’oreal Ideal Glow Cleansing Oil was a must to remove my makeup this month. I find that using oil on my acne prone oily skin does benefit it a lot. It breaks down my makeup and it leaves my skin feeling very smooth and moisturised. It doesn’t remove mascara completely but I usually use another oil based remover for that area anyway (if you want to learn more about how I cleanse my face at night you can read my night skincare routine here).

For makeup I tend to stick to the same things for the last two months now so I picked only 2 products that stood out to me. First are the Catrice blushers. I have only good things to say about this budget friendly brand, there is not a single thing I have purchased from them that let me down. So their blushers are super pigmented, they last really well throughout the day and they are generally amazing. Those two colours, Love in Peach and Think Pink which you saw in my Current Drugstore Picks post, are my absolutely favourites and are very suitable for the season. A new addition to my lipstick collection was another birthday gift, my friends seem to have learnt their lesson and seem to get me only skincare or makeup items, and it is MAC’s Snob. This is a satin finish cool-toned light pink, which to me looks like it has got some purple undertones as well. It feels pretty dry in comparison to other satin finishes but that actually makes it stay longer on the lips. It is a wonderful shade but the downside with that is that it kind of makes my teeth look a little bit yellow-ish…!

This month I’ve been experimenting a lot with nail art and I’ve been trying different designs. My favourite product to help with that was the Barry M Nail Art Pen in White which makes drawing a line as easy as if I’m drawing it on a piece of paper. It looks exactly like a pen and the polish that comes out of the tip is as much as needed. Amazing companion for your nail art, I’m telling you!

I thought I’d squeeze in a fashion favourite as well which can be no other than my pink lace loafers from New Look. I got them last year and you’d be wondering why I’m showing them to you since you can’t find them on their website anymore! However, apart from the fact that I’ve been wearing them almost every day and trying to match the outfit to the shoes and not vice versa, I wanted to point out that New Look has got great quality shoes for very low prices and wonderful designs like these white floral pumps or like these hawaian print ones!
