Another popular makeup
trend that’s been going around this summer is coloured mascara. I was browsing
the Sephora stand the other day and I found the Full Action mascara in a
beautiful turquoise colour and I succumbed to the trend! Today I’ll show you 3
looks that you can create with coloured mascara, it doesn’t have to be green, I just find that this colour really
compliments my eye colour.
First we have the full on
coloured mascara look, with the mascara applied all over the lashes. For this
look I used the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Inked in Pink as a base and then
went on with the pinky bronze shade from my Wet’n’Wild palette in Comfort Zone
on top of it all over the lid. The color tattoo helped to intensify the
eyeshadow on top. On my crease, I used the MAC Omega shadow and for eyeliner I
went for the W7 Automatic Fine Eyeliner in Black, because I wanted a very thin
line with a very slight flick and this one is ideal for that. I also
highlighted my browbone with the champagne shade from the palette. In order to
apply coloured mascara to your lashes and help it show its true colour you need
to use a mascara primer to counteract the natural colour of your lashes. I used
the E.L.F. Mascara Primer which is white and it pretty much left my eyelashes
transparent. I put the Sephora Full Action mascara in Lagoon all over my lashes
and you can see the result below. I also paired it with a pinky lip using the
Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Elusive.
Next is the 'ombre lashes' look. For this one I used the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze and
on my crease I blended some of the bronzy brown shade from the palette with a
fluffy brush. I lined my eyes with the Korres Eyeliner Pencil in Brown very
close to the lashline and with a small flick on the outer corner. I applied the
Bourjois 1 Seconde Volume Waterproof mascara both on the upper and the lower lashes
and I used the coloured mascara only on the tips of my upper lashes. This gives
a beautiful ombre effect and a subtle pop of colour. On
my lips is the Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids in Electric Orange.
The
final look is with the turquoise mascara on the bottom lashes. For this one I
used the Sephora Waterproof Jumbo Liner in Taupe all over the lid, crease and
on my lower lash line and I blended it with the MAC Omega shadow on the crease. I also
lined my upper lash line with the Catrice Kohl Kajal in Blues Willis and
blended it out to soften it with a pencil brush. On the upper lashes I applied
the Bourjois 1 Seconde Volume Waterproof mascara again and on the lower lashes
the E.L.F. Mascara Primer with the Sephora Full Action mascara on top. You can
see close ups in the photos below. On my lips is the MAC Snob lipstick.
I think my favourite is
the last one because I like how unique the mascara looks on the lower lashes.
Which one is your favourite? Will you dare a coloured mascara this summer? Let
me know in the comments below, I’d love to find out what you think!
